ÖBB VR 360°
VIRTUAL TOUR & E-LEARNING
Together with ÖBB Business Center, studio kranebitter developed and designed a virtual tour for ÖBB Technical Services. Within an e-Learning program, engineers and train drivers can fully experience the traction vehicles of the 1116 Taurus series and are trained to define its components and operation modes.

PROJECTION DESIGN
Folke Braband raises some delicate questions in his forward-looking comedy: Will we get along better with artificial humans than with real ones? Can an AI also replace a human emotionally?
In this sci-fi comedy directed by Hakon Hirzenberger, studio kranebitter develops generative and immersive imagery, which reflects the character´s inner struggle emotionally and aesthetically.

SKI FAMILY CHALLENGE
TV FORMAT PRESENTATION
Ski Family Challenge was a pitch for a new action-driven family game show on Austrain TV station Puls 4. Studio Kranebitter designed various 2d and 3d animations to illustrate game tactics and overall scenery.

In this visually stunning interpretation of Ferdinand Raimund´s romantic and magic fairy tale, directed by Hakon Hirzenberger, studio kranebitter designed an immersive and interactive imagery, which mirrors feelings, desires and fears of the protagonists. Dark, scary, magical, hopeful and still with the twinkling of an eye.

After 2 weeks of shooting with our partners Qupik in Corpus Christi, Texas, where Voest Alpine and its plant engineering partner Primetals had built a plant that is considered as Austria´s largest investment in the US, we came back with tons of imagery that studio kranebitter shaped to various films in the editing and postproduction process.

This art installation and main theme of theater festival steudltenn 2016, initiated by Hakon Hirzenberger, revolves around the topic of democracy and ideas to improve it. 7 personalities have written concepts and ways of thinking about a possible salvation of the world. Studio Kranebitter produced a podcast about it and designed the overall visual appearance of the project.

These 3 theater plays are based on the children´s books of writer and director Hakon Hirzenberger and tell the story of penguin Nelson, who desperately wants to have a polar bear as his friend and goes on a wild journey around the world. Studio kranebitter created a cinemascope-like projection design, with a playful and adventurous visual imagery, that constantly interacts with characters on stage.

Osttirol Infrared
Art Project | Photography
In this photographic series, I reconnected with the eco-system and nature surrounding my home country Osttirol and captured moments (shortly before and after thunderstorms) with infrared photography. This technique enables the viewer to perceive wavelenghts of light that otherwise are not visible to the human eye. The pictures mirror a deceiving and tragic beauty: Burning red trees, drying-out glacier lakes and rushing waterfalls, that carry down water from glaciers, desert-like alpine mountainscapes.

DIE STILLEN NÄCHTE DES LUDWIG RAINER
PROJECTION DESIGN
This is the story of tyrol-based musician Ludwig Rainer, one of the world´s first music producers, who toured through the US in the middle of the 19th century and made the christmas song „Stille Nacht“ world famous. Hakon Hirzenberger wrote and directed this musical theater play and did not blank out his critisism on selling out of tradition. Studio kranebitter created the projection design with visual imagery, that takes the protagonists onto a wild and adventurous journey.

MACBETH
PROJECTION DESIGN
Macbeth, directed by Hakon Hirzenberger, premiered in the miraculous location of Burg Perchtoldsdorf after sunset with the fullmoon rising behind the castle. Studio kranebitter created the challenging projection design and mapped dark and scary visual imagery onto the walls of the castle.

Book Trailer
Yes, now there are indeed book trailer. Studio kranebitter designed this piece of motion to celebrate the realease of Barbi Markovic´s 2nd book „Superheldinnen“. The imagery is taken from the author´s hand-written notes and photography, she used to collect throughout the writing process.

MUSICVIDEO
This music video for austrian band Laine, directed by Antonin B. Pevny, features renowned dancer Silke Grabinger and extrovert stage activist Didi Bruckmayr. Studio Kranebitter was quite inspired to collect such rich and vivid visual imagery in the editing room and created the final style and shape for this piece of work.

Radiospotting
ART PROJECT
When the city of Linz was the European Capital of Culture in 2009, we developed and curated a memorable and subversive art project, that aimed to merge literatur, sound-art and activism. We bought the radio-transmission licence for 103Mhz (the old pirate-radio frequency) for 1 year and aired sound-art pieces on 13 locations, that were inspired by short stories of renowned authors about that specific place in the city. We organized „Rauschefahrten“, where dozens of invited people installed small radio receivers on their bicycles and drove from one location to the other, streaming sound-art live and loud to bystanding audience. We spread the shortstory-booklets to people walking and driving by and engaged them to turn on the radio, read stories, listen to compositions and escape the daily routine for a couple of minutes.

Der Ring des Nibelungen

Between 2013 and 2015, Landestheater Linz premiered the full cycle of Wagner´s „Der Ring des Nibelungen“, directed by Uwe Eric Laufenberg. Studio kranebitter (togehter with Herbert Gutauer) created the trailer for each of the 4 parts, which were presented to visitors of the Musiktheater in the cinebox.

Cellardoor Radioshow
Monthly Radioshow
Cellardoor Radioshow was a monthly radioshow which aired on Radio Fro 105Mhz from 2004-2012. It was hosted and curated by Bernd Kranebitter and Clemens Pichler and focused on finding rare and highly remarkable pieces of sound, off the grid of mass perception and popular culture. Whenever the opportunity presented itself, we interviewed artists before or after their concerts and produced special shows, e.g. the Hidden Tracks Specials. We´ll miss those impressive encounters of the unknown kind. RIP Cellardoor Radioshow.

THEATER PHÖNIX
EARLY PROJECTION DESIGNS & DOCUMENTARY
This is where my projection design career started: The Theater Phönix Linz. Ingenious and talented young director Georg Staudacher (who unfortunately passed too early) gave me the first opportunity to create videos for his theater play „6 & Crime“, for which I created crime and horror sequences to welcome the audience on 6 different stages. In another play, „Die 3 von der Tankstelle“, director Harald Gebhartl would let me explode a gas station in a stage-filling projection.
Considered as a farewell gift, I produced the documentary „20 years of Theater Phönix“, a deep insight into the cosmos of the theater from its early beginnings to its blossoming.

Human Marionette
Interactive Video Installation
How does it feel, to control a human marionette? And what happens, when the marionette tries to free itself and suddenly pulls back? How far would you go next? This interactive art installation presented at a solo exhibition at Galeria Rosa Santos (Valencia, Spain) raises ethical questions of computer game mechanisms and confronts the audience with well studied behavioral experiments (e.g. the Milgram experiment).

Dead Letter Office
Convergent MEdia Installation
In 2011 I rented 3 large buildings of the vacant tobacco factory in Linz to present a high-scale media intallation, which highlights the need to expose injustices and imbalances at societal, political and personal levels. The aspect, that important information or life-altering stories are stuck or are being prevented from arriving, accompanies the audience stylistically and content-wise throughout the work. It combines sculptural installation, a radio-transmission performance and a musical re-interpretation of Arvo Pärt´s „de profundis“: A composition written for Bruckner choir Linz, radio-transmissions, subbass and paper shredder.
